Parent-Child Classes
Caregivers and children ages 18 months-3 years enjoy the warmth of Waldorf together.
Early Childhood
Children ages 3 to Kindergarten engage in joyful, play-based learning that nurtures creativity and social development.
Grades
Students engage in joyful, hands-on learning through developmentally aligned lessons that meet the child where they are. We offer screen-free learning through grade 6, and then thoughtfully and lightly incorporate screens in grades 7 and 8.
What is Waldorf?
Rooted in the belief that true learning engages the whole child, Waldorf pedagogy supports physical health, emotional and social well-being, and intellectual and spiritual growth. Our classrooms come alive with experiential, hands-on-learning through movement, art, storytelling, and collaborative projects. Students actively engage with the material in ways that foster lasting understanding.
Students are challenged to think critically, act ethically, and develop real-world leadership skills like public speaking and project management. This integrative, interdisciplinary approach prepares them not just for academic success, but for life.
The results speak for themselves: nearly 100% of Waldorf graduates go on to college, and they do so with confidence, self-awareness, and a deep sense of purpose. They leave our program ready to contribute thoughtfully and compassionately to the world around them.
“School doesn’t have to be a battle; The Waldorf School of DuPage is showing us that learning can be joyful and supportive. This is why we Waldorf!”
Waldorf at WSD
Founded in 1994 by a group of dedicated parents, our school began with just seven children in a preschool-kindergarten class. We added grades each year, graduating our first eighth-grade class in 2003. In 1999, we moved to our permanent home in Warrenville, Illinois, set on five acres of beautiful open and wooded land. Today, we are proud to be the only Waldorf school serving Chicago’s western suburbs, offering over 30 years of rich, community-rooted education.
While each Waldorf school reflects the needs of its own community, all North American schools are guided by the shared principles of Waldorf education and the oversight of AWSNA and WECAN.
At the Waldorf School of DuPage, we bring these principles to life through a child-centered approach that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. We honor each student’s individuality while fostering independent thought, meaningful connection, and a deep sense of purpose.
