Waldorf Early Childhood Education: A Foundation for Lifelong Learning, Confidence, and Creativity
(Ages 3–6.5 | Mixed-Age Preschool & Kindergarten)
Our Waldorf Early Childhood program offers a nurturing, play-based preschool and kindergarten experience designed to support whole-child development during the critical early years. For children ages 3 to 6.5, our mixed-age classrooms provide a gentle, rhythmic environment where imagination, movement, and meaningful work form the foundation for lifelong learning.
Rooted in the principles of Waldorf education, our early childhood curriculum emphasizes hands-on, sensory-rich experiences that promote social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Daily activities include storytelling, music, watercolor painting, handwork, cooking, gardening, and seasonal crafts—indoors and outdoors, in nearly all weather.
Through imaginative play and purposeful routines, children develop early literacy and numeracy readiness, while also building confidence, creativity, and a deep love of learning. Our program honors the natural rhythm of childhood, offering a calm, consistent environment that prepares children not only for academic success but for a joyful, balanced life.

Pre-K Eligibility: Children must be at least 3 years old and fully potty trained to enroll. If your child is younger than 3, we invite you to explore our Parent-Child offerings.

First Grade Eligibility: Children must be at least 6 years old on or before September 1 to be eligible for 1st grade.
Learning Through Purposeful Play and Real-Life Activities
Young children are naturally inclined to learn by doing and by imitating the meaningful work of adults. Our teachers intentionally weave practical life skills—such as folding, dishwashing, baking, and gardening—into the daily rhythm. These tasks not only build motor skills and confidence, but also instill a sense of purpose, responsibility, and respect for the environment.
Each mixed-age class of up to 16 children is led by a warm and experienced teaching team (lead and assistant) who create calm, beautiful, nature-inspired spaces. The mixed-age structure supports social-emotional development: younger children are inspired by older peers, while older children gain leadership and empathy by helping their younger classmates.
A Curriculum That Grows With the Child
Each day in our Early Childhood program begins and ends with a comforting rhythm and purposeful activities. Circle time integrates movement, music, and language, while storytelling, puppet plays, and fairy tales from around the world spark imagination and support emotional and social development.
Spanish is introduced through songs, rhymes, stories, and movement, led by native Spanish-speaking teachers who bring cultural authenticity to the classroom. This gentle, immersive approach strengthens language development and lays a strong foundation for future literacy and communication skills.
Kindergarteners enjoy five afternoons each week of artistic and practical work—sewing, weaving, woodworking, beeswax modeling, painting, and puppet theater. Seasonal crafts and daily Spanish enrichment add cultural depth and support fine motor skills, creativity, and self-expression. These shared experiences foster deep friendships and a strong sense of community that lasts into the grades.
Why Waldorf Early Childhood Is a Lasting Investment
Our approach gives children the time and space to develop at their own pace—emotionally, socially, and physically—so they are truly ready for academic learning when the time comes. By first grade, our students enter with curiosity, resilience, and the confidence to thrive in a classroom setting. Families consistently find that this strong foundation serves their children well for years to come—academically, creatively, and socially.
