Opening Statement
The Waldorf School of DuPage is seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and purpose-driven First Grade Teacher to take up and form a new class. Essential Job DutiesProvide developmentally appropriate instruction, supervision, and care for first grade students in alignment with Waldorf pedagogy.
Plan and deliver curriculum, prepare student assessments and reports, and maintain accurate classroom and student records.
Foster a warm, orderly, and well-maintained classroom environment and participate in the daily rhythm of the school.
Build respectful, professional, and collaborative relationships with parents through clear, timely communication, conferences, and class meetings.
Advocate for individual student needs and collaborate with the educational Care Group to implement agreed-upon supports and strategies.
Demonstrate a commitment to antiracist education, equity, and inclusion, and engage in reflective practice and ongoing learning in these areas.
Work collegially with faculty, administration, and staff; attend faculty meetings, professional development days, and required school events.
Engage in ongoing professional growth, including Waldorf teacher training or continuing education as appropriate.
Support school festivals, committees, outreach, and admissions-related activities, and serve as an ambassador for the school community.
Uphold all safety and security protocols to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Confident with Google suit and able to learn and use new technologies with ease
Experience & Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
Completion of a Waldorf teacher training program or a commitment to pursue Waldorf certification
Preferred
Prior Waldorf classroom teaching experience
Experience in other elementary or primary teaching settings
Salary and Benefits
Salary range: $46,000 - $54,000

Opening Statement
We are seeking a Waldorf teacher for our combined 2nd and 3rd grade. The class of 11 bright and engaged students, together with a dedicated group of parents and colleagues, is a thriving and well-supported group. We are looking for a Waldorf-trained, experienced educator who is caring, steady, and committed to guiding the class for years to come.
Essential Job Duties
As the class teacher for grades 2 and 3, the teacher would be responsible for the following areas:
Create and implement a comprehensive 2/3nd grade combined curriculum while also differentiating between the two groups where needed
Safely and effectively manage a classroom while accomplishing learning goals and objectives
Teach to a wide variety of individual learning styles and needs
Evaluate, track, and communicate student progress
Hold class meetings 2-3 times a year and host parent teacher conferences for this class
Lead collaborative efforts with subject teachers and student support staff
Collaborate with and contribute to the efforts of faculty, administration, and board
Work closely with parents to support holistic child development and continuity between home and school
Effectively use Google suite and other online technologies
Participate in festival and community life of the school
Engage in ongoing professional development and work with assigned mentor
Communicate effectively with adults and children
Qualifications
Completion or near completion of Waldorf Teacher Training certificate from AWSNA affiliated institute
Bachelors degree
Four or more years of lead teaching experience
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Experience with differentiated instruction and working with learning differences

Essential Job DutiesPlan, implement, and document a balanced curriculum that supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of young children; and maintain accurate and confidential classroom and student records.
Establish and maintain a warm, orderly, and well-prepared classroom environment that reflects the rhythms, values, and aesthetic of Waldorf early childhood education
Participate fully in the daily, weekly, and seasonal rhythms of the school.
Observe, assess, and respond thoughtfully to individual student needs, and collaborate with colleagues and families to support student growth and well-being.
Build respectful, collaborative partnerships with parents and caregivers through regular communication, parent conferences, class meetings, and written correspondence, offering guidance consistent with Waldorf principles.
Work collegially with faculty, administration, and staff; participate in faculty meetings, professional development days, in-service trainings, and required school events.

Part-time, School Year Position
Start Date: August, 2026The Waldorf School of DuPage is seeking a warm, grounded, and reliable Early Childhood Assistant to join our mixed-age early childhood program. This role calls for authentic warmth, good humor, joy, and genuine enthusiasm for nurturing young children. The ideal candidate approaches early childhood work with presence, gentleness, and reverence, and is eager to learn and collaborate within a Waldorf environment.
Position Summary
The Early Childhood Assistant works closely with the Lead Teacher to uphold a safe, warm, and developmentally aligned classroom. This role is physically active and includes caring for children both indoors and in our surrounding forested campus—year-round, in all weather.
The Assistant helps maintain the physical space, supports purposeful activities, and engages in the daily rhythms that support the healthy development of children ages 3–6.
Key Responsibilities
Follow the Lead Teacher’s guidance and uphold the classroom rhythm and expectations
Hold the class with steadiness, warmth, and predictable order
Tend to the physical, emotional, and individual needs of young children (ages 3–6)
Create and maintain a positive, calm classroom mood through modeling and presence
Supervise indoor and outdoor play, transitions, bathroom support, handwashing, clean-up, and rest time
Assist with preparation and care of classroom materials and the classroom environment
Plan and prepare weekly snacks and keep track of snack supplies
Help organize and carry out seasonal crafts, practical activities, and hands-on projects
Participate in circle time by learning and sharing seasonal poems, songs, and stories
Maintain safety practices during all indoor and outdoor activities
Communicate observations and concerns to the Lead Teacher and Administrator
Attend Early Childhood-specific school events such as Lantern Walk and Mayfaire
Support beginning-of-year and end-of-year classroom setup and clean-up
Participate occasionally in full faculty meetings, monthly EC department meetings, and parent meetings/conferences when requested
Qualifications
Required:
Genuine love and respect for young children
Experience working with young children (childcare, preschool, camps, nannying, etc.)
Ability to model calm presence, clear boundaries, and nurturing guidance
Comfort engaging in a physically active day, including significant outdoor time in all weather
Ability to lift/carry up to 40 lbs and participate in floor-level play
Ability to follow the Lead Teacher’s direction and receive and integrate constructive feedback
Successful completion of Illinois background checks and health requirements
Preferred:
Associate’s degree or higher
Commitment to Waldorf education and interest in its principles
Growth mindset, openness to learning, and collaborative spirit
Waldorf EC experience or interest in Waldorf training
Coursework in early childhood education or child development
Hours, Compensation & Benefits
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:45 AM–3:15 PM (afternoon hours may vary)

The Waldorf School of DuPage is seeking warm, caring, and reliable individuals to join our team as a part-time After School Specialist.Our After School program offers a calm, friendly environment where students can relax, enjoy a snack, play, and work on homework while they wait for parent pickup. The group typically includes 6–12 students, ranging in age from 4 to 13, and the atmosphere is generally peaceful and cooperative.
This position does not involve planning or delivering curriculum. Instead, the focus is on supervising play, supporting positive social interactions, and maintaining a safe and welcoming space. We are a technology-free school, and employees are expected to stay off their phones while supervising children.
Essential Job DutiesCheck students in and out using a school laptop
Oversee snack time (students bring snacks from home)
Maintain a consistent daily rhythm: snack, outdoor play, indoor play, and free time
Encourage and initiate appropriate play, mediate minor conflicts as needed
Uphold school rules and ensure student safety
Assist with cleanup and secure the building at the end of the day

Part-time, On-call / As-needed
The Waldorf School of DuPage (WSD) is seeking warm, reliable, and adaptable substitute teachers to support our 1st–8th grade classes. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children, appreciate an arts-integrated approach to learning, and can confidently step into a classroom to uphold the rhythm, expectations, and care central to Waldorf education.
Position Summary
Grades substitute teachers provide instructional and supervisory support when a class teacher is absent. Substitutes follow the plans provided, maintain classroom safety and rhythm, and ensure students are held with clear expectations, warmth, and respect. Substitutes may work in main lessons, subject classes, outdoor time, lunch/recess supervision, and transitions between activities.
Key Responsibilities
Implement lesson plans and classroom rhythm provided by the class or subject teacher
Maintain a safe, calm, and supportive classroom environment
Offer clear instructions and uphold consistent expectations aligned with WSD standards
Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, recess, and lunch
Communicate needs or concerns to the Administrator or relevant teacher(s)
Manage basic classroom tasks, such as attendance, materials preparation, and end-of-day tidying
Support a wide range of student needs with patience, presence, and appropriate boundaries
Model professionalism, reliability, and collaborative spirit with colleagues and parents
Qualifications
Required:
Prior experience working with children (teaching, tutoring, camp counseling, childcare, etc.)
Dependability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to hold a group with warmth and authority
Ability to follow established plans and support consistent classroom expectations
Comfort working both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
Ability to pass background checks per Illinois state requirements
Preferred but not required:
Experience in Waldorf education or holistic/arts-integrated teaching environments
Bachelor’s degree or relevant coursework in education or child development
Ability to adapt quickly to changing classroom needs
Interest in Waldorf training or further professional development
Compensation & Schedule
Hourly compensation ranges between $22-25/hr based on the class
On-call / as-needed scheduling with advance notice whenever possible
