Meet Ms. McLachlan: A Teacher Who Sees the World with New Eyes
If you ask anyone at WSD to describe Ms. McLachlan, you'll hear that she’s: creative, kind, fair, and fun. She's the kind of teacher who makes children feel truly seen and one look at her journey shows why.
Ms. McLachlan came to WSD from the Pacific Northwest, arriving in 2008 as an early childhood assistant. Since then, she's grown into a true pillar of our community: a master Waldorf teacher, having taught every grade from 1 through 8. She holds an Applied Arts degree, a certification in Licensed Massage Therapy, and graduated from the Arcturus Rudolf Steiner Teacher Training program in 2010; a rich and varied background that shapes the warmth and creativity she brings to the classroom every day.
When asked what she loves most about working with children, Ms. McLachlan shared:
"I appreciate that working with children keeps my attention in the present moment, helps me see the world with new eyes, and approach any subject with a sense of awe and wonder."
It's this sense of wonder that families notice right away; the way she turns every lesson into a small adventure, and every child into a fellow explorer.
Getting to Know Ms. McLachlan
Outside the classroom, Ms. McLachlan's curiosity and love of life shine through in everything she does. Her taste in music is wonderfully eclectic. She loves anything that pulls her to the dance floor but especially loves artists like Dirtwire, Kelly Boesch, and Apocalyptica.
She appreciates every season, but autumn holds a special place in her heart: the crunch of dry leaves underfoot, the changing colors, the scent of bonfires in the evening air, and just the right amount of spooky vibes.
