A Quiet Journey of Light and Warmth

Lantern Walk

A Cherished Tradition for Our School Community

Each autumn, our school community gathers for the Lantern Walk—a quiet, reverent celebration of light, warmth, and togetherness.

This is a cherished event for our enrolled families and students, held on school grounds.

We kindly ask that only currently enrolled WSD families attend, as the evening is designed to nurture our children’s sense of wonder and belonging in an intimate setting.

Participation and Festival Etiquette

5:30 pm Arrival

Our Lantern Walk is a quiet, reverent celebration of light for our Early Childhood through Third Grade students.

While the festival is designed especially for our younger children, community members who are able to honor and uphold the gentle, reflective mood of the evening are warmly welcome to join in observance.

Families are asked to walk with their youngest student; older students may walk alongside their family or be entrusted to another adult during the walk. To help preserve the peaceful atmosphere, we ask that all playground areas remain closed throughout the festival.

Festival Preparation

Throughout the Lantern Walk, we will sing simple, heartfelt songs that carry the light and warmth of the season. We invite everyone to join in — not for the sake of perfect singing, but to be present together in the spirit and meaning of the festival. Each voice, no matter how quiet, adds to the shared light we create as a community.
