As the bright days of summer begin to fade, we gather at the fall equinox to prepare ourselves for the season ahead. This is the time when we must summon courage to face the dragon within: our fears, doubts, laziness, or selfishness, etc. We are not afraid of the dark, because our own light shines brighter than any fear.
Drawing upon the story of St. George slaying the dragon with the sword of Archangel Michael, the Festival of Courage reminds us that with inner strength, we can overcome whatever dragons stand in our way.

8:30 AM School Play
At 8:30am we will begin with an all school performance in the bowl. Bring your favorite picnic blanket, lawn chair, and warm coffee or tea to best enjoy this outdoor performance.
Both grades and EC classes will come together to perform a play in which all the earthly beings take turns trying to save the Earth from being destroyed by a fierce dragon. All the beings work together (with audience participation) to fight their own inner dragons, and restore balance to the Earth.
Following the school play, grades students will prepare for the Fire Ceremony. Parents are welcome to join us for this quiet, reverent practice of transforming our own inner dragons.
Early Childhood Activities
Thursday Dragon Bread: Our EC students will spend the morning preparing dragon bread together.
Friday School Play: At 8:30am on Friday, we will begin with an all school performance in the bowl. Both grades and EC classes will come together to perform a play in which all the earthly beings take turns trying to save the Earth from being destroyed by a fierce dragon. All the beings work together (with audience participation) to fight their own inner dragons, and restore balance to the Earth.
Parents are encouraged to attend the play.
Grades 1- 8 Activities
School Play: At 8:30 AM on Friday, we will all gather in the bowl for a charming school play to conquer our dragons together!
Fire Ceremony: After a quick snack and changing out of costumes, the grades students will make their way to the fire pit. In silence and reverence, each student will have the opportunity to cast their own “inner dragons” into the fire to be transformed. We invite the parents to join us for this reverent ceremony. Supplies will be available for parents who would like to write down their own dragons. Parents are welcome to depart after the play or after the fire ceremony. We will see you at pick up.
Feats of Courage: Following the fire ceremony, students will participate in feats of courage in the form of an all grades relay race, and a games which Ms. Rachael will lead involving Giants, Knights, and Farmers. Make sure to ask them about their role in the game!
Caramel apples: To close the day’s celebrations, we will enjoy a seasonal treat together.
